Need Painfree Dentistry?
Do you ever experience pain and know that dental treatment has to be done but still not decided on the planned treatment because of dental anxiety?
Many people fear noise, pressure, and discomfort during dental procedures. Imagine if you can do all the dental work required and you are almost sleeping. We are licensed to provide minimal or moderate sedation safely and comfortably with no side effects or risk.
What is Minimal Sedation?
Can be provided to the people with mild anxiety, longer procedure. Minimal sedation can include:
- Laughing Gas, also known as Nitrous Oxide, will keep you awake but relaxed during the dental exam or procedure. Laughing gas is given through a nasal mask by inhalation. The advantage of this administration is the fast onset of action, plus the fast time will be cleared from your body once it’s stopped.
- Oral sedation is achieved by prescribing oral medication. This will make you drowsy but relaxed during the dental procedure. The dosage of medication is prescribed by Dr. Altalib and will determine the level of sedation necessary. Sometimes the dosage is taken the night before the procedure to calm nerves, and then laughing gas is used.
What is Moderate Sedation?
A higher level of sedation making you almost sleeping during the dental procedure but still responding to any stimulation. The relaxation you will feel makes you feel no sense about the time of the procedure, no sense of smell or sounds, or no memory about the undergoing procedure. Its usually provided to people who have mild to moderate levels of anxiety and in longer dental procedures. It can be achieved by providing oral sedatives alone with a certain dose or by combining oral sedatives with inhalation of nitrous oxide gas.
The person has to have a family member or a friend waiting for him to drop him off as it won’t be safe to leave the place alone with no company. The moderate level of sedation is closely regulated by law, and the doctor with the dental office has to have the authorization to provide this kind of sedation. Just check all these details with our staff member to feel confident about your decision. We want you not to feel nervous about the sedation.
